Been traveling a lot and haven't been on the forum much. Just thought I'd touch base...

I was on a Caribbean cruise last month, but the weather did not cooperate a lot of the time. These are a couple of what I thought were the better shots (from St. Kitts).

Nice, love the bridge.
Here are a couple more. The one on the left is called a "clapper bridge" and was on the main road to Cornwall. The one on the right is from the 13th century and was right next to the B&B we stayed in Launceston, Cornwall

I'm not in to B&W that much but thought this was appropriate. It makes the car look older and more in the right setting. This was part of a memorial to Route 66 that I ran into in the Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona.

Great work! I have been there a couple times... you interpreted it perfectly.

Let us say I have as a subject a group of 3 persons. Is it preferable to get closer to the subject and use a shorter focal length lens or move further from the subject and use a longer focal length lens. I have a zoom lens and no problem adjusting my distance to the subject.

My photography teacher used to use a lens about 70 - 100 mm for some of his portraits, sometimes shooting from across the street. Especially on his larger clientele. I guess the longer lens has a slimming effect. The longer lens will also give more bokeh in the background.

That said, do a lot of shots with a variety of setups and see what looks best.
