We're Back From Our Cruise

Grumpy, if you get to Brazil you absolutely must visit the Foz do Iguacu. I saw it in October (springtime) when the river was in flood. The power of nature was astounding. See it from the Brazilian and Argentinian sides and make sure you go down the boardwalk and stand in the spray (if you can stand, that is!).

OTOH my credit card was scammed at the (otherwise beautiful) Hotel Tropical das Cataratas. Always take care in Brazil.

Also, when in Rio, take the cable car up to the Sugarloaf mountain. You will travel in two stages across the hills. The evening I went up, there had been showers, and as we ascended, the statue of Christ on the Corcovado rose up through the clouds. We thought we had died and gone to heaven!

And then there was the voodoo ceremony on Copacobana Beach......all very friendly, and for some reason it involved a bottle of Bailey's!

I was able to view 9 of your pictures and it sure looked like you were having a great time. My computer has really slowed down and it took about 10 minutes to look at those 9 pictures. Does anyone know what I could do to speed it up, so that I can look at all the pictures?

My friend and I both has Verizon DSL and were looking at sites to book our trip to Hawaii and she would say let's click here and her machine would go right to the site and mine was much slower. She lives about 2 minutes away. We have a Dell that was pretty much top of the line when we bought it within the last couple of years. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. First check out your DSL speed at any of a number of broadband test locations - that sounds like a connection problem not a PC memory or processor speed problem. Also are your virus and anti-spyware (e.g. Adaware) applications up-to-date? You may be invested with resource hogs. On the really bad side, if you are not protecting your computer, you may have been victimized with a trojan that has hardwired your PC as a storage site for popular material like pirated movies or porn. :'(

You may just need to purge your temporary internet files and cookies. My laptop slowed to a crawl before I realized I had not done that for awhile.

Thanks guys. I checked our DSL connection with Verizon and she said it was fine. She had me do Control, Alt and Delete and had me check our processes. I had 74 at the time and she told me that was the problem and to call Dell. Of course, when I called Dell, he said we were no longer under warranty. I think he said we bought the computer in 04/05. Dell could do a diagnostic check for $39.99 or I could look at Dell support online and see if I could figure it out. I poked around for awhile last night and deleted a couple of things and now my processes are 97 and the laptop in my daughter's room is no longer connected. I need to go to computer school-I am computer illiterate! I do delete my cookies and temp files. I am leaving for San Diego tomorrow, but I am going to try downloading and running Spydoctor, when I return. DH's co-worker recommended this. We have McAfee on our computer.
