Made fresh fries in a newly purchased, bigger air fryer. I've only used frozen fries from a bag in my tiny air fryer before, but the fresh cut fries were much tastier. DH loved them, so I'll be making more. For me, I wanted them to be a tiny bit greasier... I used olive oil, but next time, I might use lard...

I was in 7th heaven today at the restaurant, because I could walk across the room to our favorite table with zero pain and almost floating. Frank and I both remember when it was terribly painful for me to walk that far, even with a walker. Now, walking that far (with NO walker, cane, or other assistive devices at all!!) is a "piece o' cake" just like when I was younger. Results from last year's knee surgery really helped a lot and my knee is still improving even now.

So, if you need hip or knee replacement surgery, there's hope of not only improving, but also regaining your normal life.... Still, knee surgery and recovery are not easy.

Really glad to hear you're improving!

Me....I can't get over, (well, I can, but you know what I mean), how I've deteriorated over the past 2 years - fake TIA, sepsis, pending cataract surgery, and now this.....I still use the elliptical at almost maximum resistance, but sheeesh.

Onward and upward.

I have been having similar deterioration happen (well, not the TIA or sepsis, but the knee and cataracts and dental implants and so on). I look at these surgeries as deferred maintenance.

I think cataract surgery will be a breeze for you, or at least it was easier than I had anticipated prior to surgery. You can do it! The hardest part is putting the drops in your eyes for several days before the surgery. It took my surgeon just 4 minutes (or was it 7 minutes?) to do the surgery on each eye. I was awake but sedated and the time flew because of all the "look at the light, look left, look right" orders from my surgeon and so on. Easier than getting your teeth cleaned. If you schedule the cataract surgeries, I recommend getting them done ASAP so they will be over and done with.

I couldn't ride the elliptical like you do, though! That's very impressive at any age.

A good friend came over and we floated in the pool. Then grilled out nice steaks from our local grocery/meat market. It was a beautiful day here in Iowa for our last summer day. Our pool will get closed sometime next week.

I'm at the mercy of Covid operation reductions, my surgeon's timetable, and the Ontario medical system....but I do hope it'll be soon.

(One 'problem' is I take Prednisolone drops three times a week to try and fend off the shingles scarring...but Catch 22....that stuff seems to foster cataracts.)

Cried a little.
Ate chocolate.
Felt better.

ROMEO group meeting at Burger King (7 - 9 am), took DW out for breakfast, went to bank, dropped off an Amazon return, got fuel, dentist at 3:00 PM (cleaning), walked dog (a few times), made a pizza at home, watching Astro's play Seattle.

That's enough...

Used the aerator attachment on the tiller to scuff up the ground on some bare spots (Honda calls it an "aerator" but that's really all it does) then run the mower with the grass catcher attached at a lower setting than normal to suck up all the debris. Spread some grass seed, ran a rake over it, and now watering. We'll see if it takes or I need to do the whole jackhammer/till it up routine next year.

Busy day. 18 holes with some friends... we had three groups and someone in our first group got a hole-in-one on the toughest par 3 on the course... unfortunately an elevated green so no one saw it go in. Then lunch at the club.

Then errands... return mother's internet modem and cable box to Spectrum, shopping at Walmart, pick up an exterior door that I had ordered online at Home Depot, pick up jet ski from the shop... then drive home and put it all away.

Finally, I drove 15 minutes in the opposite direction to connect with a guy buying an old race scanner from me on Facebook marketplace.

Not a pleasant "What did you do today?" - we put our 15.5 year-old Redbone Coonhound down today.

She was a foundling and hit the jackpot when she found us. She lived a great life - much longer than most of her breed and for dogs of her size (75-80 lbs.). Her last days weren't horrible, but it was pretty clear what needed to be done when the time finally came.

I don't think it was too early or too late - but it is still hard when your pets are part of your family.

So sorry to hear this. You did a great job or caring for the pooch - that is a very long time to live for a dog of that type.

DMV by appointment. New license and Real ID to come in the mail.
My first appointment was cancelled Monday (after I arrived!) due to computer problem, nearby construction work had cut through wrong cables--oops!
They told me "someone" would call to reschedule.. Later that day, I got a voicemail with a new appointment, at an office one hour away, at a time earlier than what was listed on the website.
Went there at my time and they were open early. Seamless process, very quick! in and out within 30 minutes!! Wish thats the way it worked all the time.

It's always sad to put down a good dog. But, it is what we do for them rather than let them suffer needlessly.

My day was far more mundane. I did get my 2nd CV era haircut. The infection count and rate are down from July and August so it seemed a good time to take the plunge. I did find out that one of the two ladies who worked in the shop had to leave. There simply was not enough work for both, and the other lady is the owner.

A really sad day to say goodbye to a family pet. My condolences.

Received a letter from the Census Bureau addressed to "Current Resident". I expected to open it and find a reminder to complete the 2020 Census, which I did online a couple of months ago. Instead it was a letter informing me our household had been selected to participate in the Consumer Expenditure Survey and that a field rep from the Census Bureau would be contacting me in person within the next few days.

I will be asked to provide information about expenses over the past three months, and about things I own like cars and property. The letter suggested gathering bills, receipts and online statements in preparation for the interview. The average time for the interview is 70 minutes.

The letter emphasized we were not personally selected, our household address was selected via "scientific sampling". Should I wish, I can refuse to answer any question but my cooperation is important as this survey is the source used to update the CPI.

Anyone else done one of these surveys?

Yes, I got one of those in the 2000 census. Not really all that onerous, and my understanding is that they really do make good use of it. For a lot of that data this is the best source they have.

Sorry for your loss, LRDave.

Relaxing today after spending yesterday with the 5 grand nieces and grand nephews, ages 1.5, 2, 3, 5, and 10. Quite an experience after spending almost every minute of the past 9 months with people over 65.

Today morning run, bought some pumpkins, sprayed my bird feeder poles with silicone to thwart squirrels, now bird watching on the back deck.
