Big trouble in little China

I was going to post this as a reply in a thread about forum democracy, but the thread has disappeared.

I voted No. I'm not an admin or a moderator here, nor a prolific poster, but the right answer IMO is no.

If you want democracy, then it has to be limited to electing the overseers and then letting them run the place as they like for their term. They do a pretty much thankless job and micromanaging their every decision is a recipe for (a) trouble and (b) no one wanting the job. Similarly, policies do not get decided by referendum.

Appoint or elect the boss and then do as s/he says.

A word of public advice to forum administration. Deleting threads is bound to rile the natives.
I'd rather be sailing.

I moved the post to the mod forum so we can talk about things. It was not deleted but I needed to get the opinion of the others before putting it back.
