This number of 5,082 can't be correct, can it? I think the most online users previous to this was a bit more than 1300. And, at 11:03 PM--that doesn't sound right either.

We sometimes see these spikes and they are usually bots or web crawlers indexing pages.

The above home run statistics were established during baseball's steroid era. Before this era, the home run record was 61, established by Roger Maris in 1961 way before the steroid era.

Ok, so now we have visitor ER numbers juiced (not by the ER Forum Admin), and record is so extreme that it probably won't be broken for a very long time (unless the numbers are juiced again). Apparently, this also both applies to baseball home run records and the ER Forums attendance records. To me, the newer home run records are meaningless and actually detracted from my enjoyment of baseball.

Now, apparently, we have the era of the bots making the forum's total number of visits meaningless. Can this be fixed?

This jump from 1300+ visits (not sure what the record was before it was destroyed) to 5082 is the greatest leap since Bob Beamon broke the world broad jump record, jumping 29' 2 1/2" by almost two feet. At the time no one had even jumped 28 feet (way to go, Bob).

Why do we think the 1300 was real? The bots aren't new they could have been part of the 1300.

So what was the number of real people? We may never know.
