IE shuts down when I try to post pix - 6 Feb 10
Trying to post pictures of the snow. IE keeps shutting down due to "malicious add-on." Here's the rest of the info. Any clues what I should do? Thanks - Amethyst

Sorry, the google answer is pure coder-speak to me. No translator handy.
It also asks if I have antivirus s/w running in the b/g, and of course I do - McAfee as a matter of fact. But doesn't say what, if anything, the antivirus s/w may have to do with the problem.
I only get this problem on the ER forum. Can post pix to Webshots and Facebook, no problem.

Could you try using another browser and see if you same the same experience? Firefox and Chorme are both great browsers and FREE downloads..

Run system restore and see if you can make IE work. I see you have many posts here so I assume the problem just started. oldtrig

The problem is due to an IE feature called DEP. It has just started preventing me from uploading photos to any site, including Facebook. I tried troubleshooting it, and got so annoyed at the convolutions that I went ahead and downloaded Firefox instead. Thanks for the suggestions!

You do know that you can turn that feature off ?
To disable DEP
1. Open the Start Menu.
2. In the white line (Start Search) area, type cmd
3. Right click on Cmd (at top), and click on Run as Adminstrator.
4. Click Continue for UAC prompt.
5. In the command prompt, type bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff and press Enter.
6. You should get a success message back
7. Close the command prompt.
8. Restart the computer to apply.

Janet, I loaded Firefox and was able to post pix again. Thanks for the tip.
Oldtrig, I tried your suggestion, and will see what happens next time I want to post a photo.
Thank you!
