There should be a limit!

Suggested wording of rule: "No more than X.1 million posts per member per day."

I will leave it to the mods to fill in the X.

A memory of a guy who called in sick twice the morning after. The morning after an all night drunk. He did have to come in to be terminated.

Is there a suggested safe withdrawal rate?

It is a bad idea and would probably cause the forum to go downhill pretty fast.

I also vote no. The posts on this website are very informative and I would hate to have them limited.
OTOH, I used to go to a cruise board, and there were a few with over 100K posts! In looking at a topic, they would post something like "I agree" to up their count.
There is no reward for being the top poster, so I am at a loss for a reason.

Although this sounds good, even a 1 minute limit causes problems!

I'm on a sports forum and post similarly (about 10x per week). Every now and then, I hit their "one post every 2 minutes" throttle, and it really disrupts you. I end up dropping it and checking ER instead. Really! Then I forget to go back to what I wanted to say on the other forum and move on. Disruption.

There are other ways to limit the hacker-bots. Seems like this forum and the mods have a really good handle on that.

Are you intimating that there are other ways to post?

No limits. Heck this is the only forum I bother to check regularly because of the high number of new posts each day. One can only spend so much time enjoying the sun and fun.

I have reduced the frequency of my posting on this forum, but people should be free to post as often as they want.

Perhaps it would work to just ration vowels, so say, 1000 per month.

I do my best to self-limit so that there is enough time in between for you all to forget what a @#$^%#& I can be.

As someone else who has been here a long time with a low post count, I would caution and remind that quantity does not necessarily equate with quality.

That said, no, don't limit posting. Just implement a user fee above a certain limit... ha

My point was the inverse! Limited quantity does not equate with quality either.
