Martha, REW, and Rich_in_Tampa Step Down
As many of you may have surmised, the three of us (and Nords as previously announced) have recently arrived at a consensus that it is time to let others have an opportunity to set the direction of the board. While eager to continue our participation as members, we have agreed that it is time to step down and let others take up the moderator duties.
Andy will decide how he wishes to approach this new chapter, and we have provided him with some worthy members to consider. For a few weeks we'll be continuing some of our housekeeping duties as moderators to help Andy have some time to determine the next steps. Things change, the board will go on, and our community will persevere.
So thanks to everyone for your contributions. We all feel privileged to have served your forum needs and look forward to our future discussions.
Martha

Ok somethings up!. All joking aside, this is going to be a sad day. Just when I started posting again. You're going to be missed as Mods.

As I expressed with Nord's announcement to step down, I understand your decision. I'm sure it is no fun to constantly get beat up over issues concerning the board. A thankless job until one actually does step down, then it is too late.
Hope everyone stays around.

Too many different thoughts; No Way! Too much change. Are these folks bonded or under warranty? I hate to see good posters depart but great moderators leaving is really traumatic.
One indicator of a good site (and good govt?) is good succession. So far this site has held up from Dory's start. So there is a good small message in this. I wish you all Nords, Martha, REW and Rich the best and hope to see your continued posting. I wish there was some way to materially reward those who have contributed so much to making this a great site.
Hey, maybe I willn't feel like I have to check in all the time....yakers, searching for any snippet of a silver lining in this

Whoa! Nords had me semi-convinced when he said "While it could be construed that my resignation was inspired by recent debate, that's not the case."
Now there are four of you who are resigning so that you can, as they say in DC, "spend more time with your families."
At least I don't have to worry that Andy is going to ask me to be a moderator!
Thanks for all your work, guys -- enjoy your retirements!

I dunno. Was the pay not high enough? Or was it just the lack of perks?
Thanks for all your contributions. Hopefully you will enjoy being just members like the rest of us.

Wow.
Thanks for all you've given to me and to the hundreds of others who participate or just lurk. I learn new things every time I log in, and the mods have always been a primary reason that this is a great place. Good judgement, a good sense of humor, dedication, and works for free--we couldn't have had a better bunch. I hope you'll remain big contributors.
I'm worried that a place that is very important to many of us is taking on water . . .

Concur. I've learned so much in the short time I've followed this board -- I look forward to signing on. Hope the sense of community doesn't suffer.

 oh no!
seriously, ya'll are some of the most thoughtful contributors and moderators we have and now the collective jumping ship makes this place seem quite destabilized!
i've been around politics long enough to know - this stinks!
can't wait for the "behind the moderators" docudrama...or tell-all book?
thanks for all of your hard work and hope you stay around to post, hope i decide to stay around too...

Martha, REW, and Rich (in Tampa):
Thank you for your time. Please continue to post. We all have at least one common interest: RVing. Unfortunately, I'm still the only one w/o an RV.
REW and I have another common interest: Texas bashing!

OMG! I am so lucky to have been here when the four of you were mods. You demonstrated the true meaning of moderation when once or twice I was pulled back from an extreme position. Please keep posting and counter anything I write that is different from your viewpoints. This is an amazing board because so many people post and explore the many sides of issues.
Thank you so much.

Yeah,,,,after my hiatus of several months I found it difficult to return as a regular.. Things shore has changed around these parts...It's a bit like porn in that I know it when I see it, but I can't define it.
One thing for sure you three, and Nords as well, have been a great source of information and guidance. Once I learned to sort through the constant lies about Texas that REW would spew about, the interaction with all of you was a joy. I guess on a day to day basis I never gave much thought to your mod duties, but I thank you for that also. I hope you will continue to contribute, but if you must drift away I'll understand.

I just wanted to post a BIG Thank You to the crew (Nords included) for all that you have done for E-R.org over the years. It's obvious from all the feedback how much everyone has appreciated your guidance, you are amazing thinkers!
I will post a message later asking the community for help in determining the best path to take moving forward. Thanks for sticking around a couple weeks to assist in the transition.

To all the mods, past and present, thank you, I've learned a lot here from everyone. I hope this place stays the way it is but everything in life changes, hopefully for the better.

C'mon, Al, these decisions weren't made in a minute and they were preceeded by weeks of discussion. I laid the best groundwork I could with my post. If you become a moderator then you'll be able to read all the history on the moderator's boards.
Geez, guys, this is why I've never had a retirement ceremony. No dissension, no Saturday Night Massacres, no "Behind The Music" exposés, no WSJ investigations. Three of us are ER'd (and the fourth is getting closer every day) and we've realized that, just like our working years used to be, we were spending more time taking care of others than we were spending on taking care of ourselves. We've served our time. Who's next? Step right up!
Oh, be afraid. Be very afraid. It doesn't have to come from Andy. Moderator nominations could come from the floor and voting could be done by a poll. Of course we posters have to decide on the selective-service selection system before we implement it, and I personally favor the "Texas option" of a poll including the choice "None of the above."

You're welcome, and once again I'm reminded that it's a journey-- not a destination!
Now if you'll excuse me for a while, I have to go weed a @#$%ing rental property. At least I can sit on my laurels while I'm digging out.
