Obnoxious "sponsored content" overlay popping up on site

I'm getting a really obnoxious "sponsored content" pop-up on my Mac in Safari that overlays the left side of the page. Looks suspicious to me.

Clicking on "block pop-ups" and it did not go away.

Just started this afternoon.

Hmmm. I'm using Safari on a Mac and haven't seen anything like that at all. Have you upgraded to 10.13 High Sierra? I'm still on 10.12 Sierra so perhaps that could be a difference?

No not on High Sierra - I'm one main OS level down. But I have the latest Safari minus 1 that was released today.

It seems to have gone away for now. We'll see if it comes back.
