Quotes - What does the 7 digit number mean?

When I quote a message I get this at the beginning:

QUOTE=Chuckanut;2530116

What is that seven digit number?

I have found that when using the ER app on my iPad, I have to eliminate that number to avoid at lot of extraneous stuff being mixed into the quote. Delete the number and all I see is the material I chose to leave in the quote. This only happens on the app as far as I can tell. On the browser, everything is hunky dory.

Pretty sure it's the post number, unique to all other posts on this board. If you click on the #1 in the upper right corner of your first post here, you get this url: https://www.early-retirement.org/for...ml#post2530118
I think the numbers are sequential. I see the latest post in another very recent thread and it's post253120.

That sounds right to me. The post below has the number deleted and you can see that you can no longer click on a link to go to the actual post.

Clicking on the last number in the link above will take you to the OP in this thread, i.e., the post number.
