"Sent from my xxx using the ER mobile app"
I notice more posts with this (or something like it) at the bottom. Is this the default for any posting using the mobile app? Can it be turned off, or linked with signatures and turned off for display using that edit option? I really don't care one bit what device people use to post. It's just noise that looks like might be part of the post but isn't. For much the same reason, I turn off signatures. At the very least, can you put in a separator that makes it clear there is nothing that is worth reading below it?
Thanks.

On my phone's app, I see it is automatically added when I use the "quick reply" box, no option to not include the "sent from my.... " signature. But if I use the reply option on the top right drop down menu, I get a bigger reply box with a check marked "sent from my.... ", which can be unchecked. I don't see any option to globally not include it.

I don't use the mobile app but I'd bet money that the app config defaults to a standard message that you can modify or delete altogether.

Agree, it's distracting. Would be great if it were turned off by default.

It's a setting that can be easily changed.

I meant in other folks' posts; I don't actually use the mobile app.

Right, that's what I was looking for too. People can choose to put whatever they want in their sigs, and I can ignore that. But this looks like something that is put in by default in their posts and it's just distracting and unnecessary. I don't think people are really intending to do it but since it's by default they don't bother to change it.

To clarify my earlier post, the forum app adds an additional signature line that includes the "sent from" text. This is the norm for smartphone and tablets and probably the default setting by the SW provider.
It is easy enough to defeat, in the the forum application the user can open the "settings" menu on the left margin toward the bottom and modify or delete that text.

Ah, I see that the settings menu on my non-iPhone is longer than I expected and way down is "signature." I was able to delete the default signature there as I had on my iPad.

I see no problem with these messages. Sometimes I like the fact it was sent from a mobile app and that the sender is actually a better typist/speller than their contribution indicates.
(Sent from laptop PC with spellcheck.)

Just so I'm clear, is there no way for the forum app to NOT add that additional signature line by default?
I know there are ways for individuals to change or delete it, but as a couple of us have said, we're not talking about how our own posts look, it's the default look on the posts of others using the mobile app we are talking about. And most people won't bother to change the default, and I'm not about to individually suggest to each person that uses the mobile app that they go in and change it.
I understand this is the norm for smartphones and tablets but I think it's very distracting and accepting something like that just because it shows up elsewhere doesn't seem like a good reason for keeping it. It's really just free advertising for the phone providers and I don't accept that.

I don't know the answer, but I would guess that the app is not written or configured specifically for er.org.

One of the drawbacks of having free apps is to accept advertisements, and the app promoting itself is another form of advertisement. (that you can turn off)
