Trouble With Access

I have been having intermittant trouble over*about the last 18 hours or so in accessing the forum.
I can get to the homepage, but when I try to open a thread, my browser will lock. Have to contl-alt del out.

Sometimes I cannot log on - same thing happens- my Internet Explorer freezes. I am using Windows XP, Prof. Ed.

Any ideas?

Mikey,

Go to the FIREFOX website and download their free browser. Try that one and see if you got a problem. You may have got a virus. Been surfing the 'lady' sites?

Firefox is by far the better browser but there are some Microsoft only features of this board. For excample, I can't click on teh smiley face icons and get them to apprea in my posts with Firefox - I have to hand type them in

That's odd, they work for me in Mozilla. Do you have JavaScript enabled in your Firefox?

Cutthroat, I know the ladies are apt to be walking Petri dishes, so I use virus protection.*

The smileys aren't meant to be dragged. That would make too much sense. Clicking on a smiley inserts the code at the cursor location. This is accomplished by the javascript you see. You won't see the smiley in the text box, just the smiley code which is usually 2-3 bits of punctuation or sometimes a word enclosed in colons or brackets. When you preview or post the message you'll see the smiley.

When I clicked on the smileys the code did not insert. Since it works for others on Firefox, I suspected it was some effect from my script blocking extension, even though I enabled it for this site. I just set the extension to glabally permis Jscript and clicking works, so the extension problem is confirmed. Here is a clicked smiley:
