Hello.

My provider (Allergy Specialist) did a series of skin prick tests and subsequent Intradermal tests to determine specific allergens. These tests were all categorized as 'environmental.' Presumably these will all be covered by traditional Medicare and Medigap Supplemental (after annual deductibles are met).

My Physician also ordered a series of blood tests to address concerns pertaining to food and stinging insects. I used Medicare's secure chat feature in an attempt to understand if the diagnostic blood tests will be covered; unfortunately, the answer was nebulous at best.

If anyone has expertise as a biller, medical coder or clinician, I would appreciate your input. Also, if members in general have relevant experience, please let me know how your claims were adjudicated by Medicare and if you had to jump any special hoops.

Thank you in advance.

With Medicare, my wife was told that an allergy test would run about $900. We declined it. This was at Quest, St. Petersburg, FL. I do not know the exact test that was requested or the code for it.
