75 yrs old here. was going to the gym 3 times a week before covid. now down to walking a couple of miles every other day, plus doing work around the house and on vehicles. I found that working with weights seemed to do more damage than good. I tried the high rep, low weight and the vice versa. but when I tried that I would be good for a while and then shoulder would really hurt when moving arms in certain movements. like everyone else on here I try to do as little damage as possible so as to maintain my freedom from captivity.

True dat . While my gym shut down for the pandemic, without free weights at home I substituted multiple push-up sets throughout the day to maintain muscle mass.

When my gym was closed I went instead to the neighborhood kids playground . I improvised and did hundreds of pull ups, dips etc on the jungle gym metal bars, push ups, deep knee bends and all out sprints on the pavement for an intense workout.

During my year+ layoff from the gym, I mostly did stretching with elastic tubing and bands. Just could not get into pushups. The worst part was the Covid stress caused too much nighttime snacking, and I gained about 10 lbs. I've only lost a few lbs since starting back in the gym, but my snacking habit still needs work.
