I retired last summer and I am now covered by my ex employer's retiree health plan, which is not a HSA qualified HDHP plan. My wife is still working and has a HDHP plan through her employer, which also covers our two underage kids. The question I can't find clear answer for is: Can my wife make HSA contributions to the family limit of $7750 (under 55) or is she limited to the single contribution limit of $3850?

Assuming your wife and kids are covered under a family HDHP for the full 12 months, then her HSA can have $7750 deposited into it.

The limit includes any deposits from her employer as well as from her/you.

Perfect! Thanks.
