I was watching some videos related to intermittent fasting that talked about how bariatric surgery instantly impacts insulin resistance. They went on to talk about these [enzymes?] being released in the early part of the small intestine and different ones being released later. The continuous feeding that we have developed, especially of highly processed carbs, messes up these signal. IF lets the duodenum clean out, and the signals work correctly. What you mention is another way of shutting down those chemical signals from the section of colon that would normally be removed in bariatric surgery.
Lots of very interesting stuff. I will see if I can find those links to the discussion about IF and the small intestine stuff. The challenge with so much of this is that I do not have the knowledge to filter the valuable info from the noise, and there is a lot of noise out there! And I worry about my wanting to believe certain things because it might be of value to me. I do know that by loosely following IF for several months, my A1C has dropped and I have lost weight.
