Yahoo! I'm overweight! What an accomplishment! LOL

I shot right past that 227 number too. I've been in mega health mode this week as the doc appt. is a week from Friday, and it's paying off weight-wise.

Interestingly, and somewhat depressingly, I ran some blood tests on myself. I like to know ahead of time what the doc is going to see so I don't get blindsided like I did when I got diagnosed Type II diabetic. I used one of the WallyWorld mail in Ha1c tests for my 3 month blood sugar level, and surprisingly came in at 5.9 (6 or below is normal). So hooray for that.

However, I have a CardioChek testing device I bought a while back, and it says my cholesterol and triglycerides are significantly higher than I thought they'd be. As usual, my good cholesterol (HDL) is way low. Not much I can do about that (darn genetics).

So anyway, I guess I'm going to get put on meds after all, just maybe not for the diabetes. I hate the concept, so I'm going to continue the healthy lifestyle moving forward and see if I can get back off them in the future. Maybe I'll try the personal trainer route myself. I could use a muscle or two.

I've been lurking in this thread for a while, and it's time for me to jump in. My weight is at an all time high, and I need to start trimming some pounds. I'm 6'3", with a largish frame (though my skeleton is probably more similar to Michael Phelps' than an NFL lineman's). My ponderous gut is more akin to an NFL lineman than Michael Phelps' 12-pack.

10/29/08: 285 lbs

Short term goal #1: 269 lbs
Long term goal: 225 lbs

Cut back on my soda a bit - Only buying 1 liters instead of 2 liters so it isn't in the house. I think soda is as addictive as cigarettes, especially when you are sitting at the computer.

Still lost a 1/2 pound but I was expecting to gain a few as I have also been eating a bit more then usual. It is not a a race to get in shape just a few pounds at a time.

Told my G/F if I get down to 190 I will take her to Hawaii all of a sudden my portion sizes have been cut down

I'll be in FL visiting Mom next week so I won't have a scale that can read my numbers until I return home.

125#. Suspect the weight will climb up again a pound or two after this weekend - going out of town again. It's a constant tug of war to maintain my weight around this range, but I'm ok with that, since I don't have to constantly diet to maintain. That would really s*ck! I've found that I can be bad for a while (i.e. long weekend or vacation), as long as I'm pretty good about diet/exercise when I come back.

Welcome newcomers and congrats to those who lost this week!

Well, I think being held accountable might help me. I'm a guy, 5'10" and weigh 161 pounds. My all-time high weight was 170. I eat rather healthy. I haven't excercised in two years, but plan on starting up again once I get through my physical therapy which begins next week. (All minor ailments). I'd like to get down to 158-160 and stay there. I also need to lose about 2-3 inches off my waist. Wish me luck.

Making progress in the right direction this week. Might not look impressive, but after a 2-day weekend binge of airport food and too much restaurant food, it's not so bad.

I'm on a 3-day 1500 cal/day diet, and today is the final day of that. I eat much healthier foods when I do this, but cutting my caloric intake in half isn't much fun, so I don't do it often. And I'm trying to eventually eliminate caffeine from my diet. We'll see how that part goes.

Hmm, not the start I was looking to have here. I spot checked several times during the week, and was trending in the right direction, but this morning I'm up .6. I ate better (mostly) this week, but need to ramp up my aerobic exercise.

154 today, even after going to the fair last night with Sis and kids--just one corndog, though, I swear!
Headed down to a music festival for the weekend and will likely not have gone down next week, but maybe all that walking around will make it so I maintain.

I didn't weigh myself until after breakfast and I still had my pj's on - my scale shows no weight loss which means I must have lost something.

Rather than weighing in, my latest tool for measurement is each Wednesday after I finish my session with my trainer I come home and try on my size 10 pants. In 15 years of marriage I have gone from a size 2 to a size 12, I went from a 6 to 12 in the past 3 years. I'll know things are changing when I can zipper up those size 10s, which I am sad to say did go over my thighs today but if I had of done them up I probably would have suffered a heart attack due to lack of blood flow throughout my body.

What's up with this? I joined the forum last week and now I've gained a 1 1/2 pounds. I think the leftover Halloween candy had a lot to do with it.

Didn't post last week but am down two pounds from my original weight. Hooray! Only 18 lbs to go to reach my first target (I'm working in 20-lb increments).

Not sure next week will be a loss -- last night I indulged in a week's worth of alcohol and pumpkin pie -- but we were celebrating.

128#, as expected! Had fun on our weekend out-of-town trip, though!
