There is a way to measure the prostate, it involves a large instrument with a condom inserted up the wazoo. It is called an ultrasound, Friday I have a biopsy coming up and will get the full monty. Those wanting a full report can pm me.

I had to look that one up in the old urban dictionary Ronin. But I guess it's a little easier than riding without a seat.

Prostate ultrasound. You can probably guess where the transducer goes. If you're having difficulty voiding you may also be in for a cystoscopy to take a little peek at the plumbing from the inside. They're both quick procedures. Just take a deep breath and relax...

I went through this particular drill a few years ago. The ultrasound measurement was incidental to a biopsy. Lidocaine in the gel used makes both procedures much more comfortable...

Be careful with FLOWMAX if you have an eye problem like glaucoma too. Be sure to tell your eye specialist you take it and also let your PCP know of the eye problem. Personally my PCP would not increase the FLOWMAX dosage due to the eye problem. I no longer take FLOWMAX and frankly don't see much difference.

Argh - a problem I wasn't aware of. Just another reason to avoid meds that are not absolutely necessary and to research the heck out of every med you do take.

All of these poster mentioned instruments invented solely to invade my personal cavities are very troubling to me. The only thing that has ever invaded an orifice of mine is a tongue depressor to check for a sore throat. I keep thinking of my great grandfather who died in the 70s lived to be 95, and I am sure nothing like these things ever got poked up him. Maybe when It's time for that colonoscopy I will turn over a new leaf and just say bring it on!

Why a condom, for heaven's sake? Then again, maybe I don't really want to know.

Best wishes for good results.

To keep the instrument clean, of course.

I've owned a few male dogs in my life. Why don't they have the same issues as us humans?

Maybe some do, and I'm just ignorant.

Maybe they don't live long enough. Or complain loud enough.

Every time I hear about the side-effects of the drugs that are supposed to alleviate this I wonder why having to get up once or twice per night to take a l**k is such a bad thing
