What's the best online place to find cheapest pharmacy using your Part D plan for a new med?

As in using the data in a different way.

Poking around the Medicare.gov site lets one compare prices of three pharmacies with your future or present Part D plan. Then you can go back and choose three different plans to compare.

There can be quite a range of prices for the same medication.

Is there somewhere that lets you put in your future (or present) Part D plan and compare the cost of a drug with ALL the pharmacies in a handful of zip codes to find the cheapest place to fill it?

Curious.

And... If you get a new prescription, do you stick with the same pharmacy or do you shop around and how?

Try GoodRx. They have a pull-down that lets you select your plan name. You can check for the lowest price for a single drug. I haven't tried it beyond that.

I wasn't able to select my plan name........can you describe how to do it?
I just saw a list of pharmacies from low to high $ but I assume that's w/ the
GoodRx coupon and not for pt D plans.

OP has a very good question.........hope there's a way to order by price for
various pharmacies in a particular plan D.

Type in the name of the drug. Then on the left hand side, select "medicare". The prices will be shown for
about 20 plans by provider name/plan. You can then select in the upper rh side to see your specific plan.

In my case, just this week I had to go outside of my preferred network. I went to in-network retail pharmacy - Walgreens. The price was not what this site says. It was 8 cents more than the Goodrx price for my particular drug. I used my insurance price to have it apply to my deductible.

I have been using GoodRx for years and never noticed the Medicare option!

I wasn't able to get GoodRX to do what I wanted.

However I just discovered via the Humana stuff that came yesterday (new plan card, and other other info) and the help of a friendly rep:

If you input the Humana plan name and your zip code, a list of pharmacies shows up. Not the best format for the job but better than anything else I know ......it lists the pharmacies by a combo of distance/alphabetical...........
there is detailed info about each pharmacy. About the 2nd/3rd line down,
it tells you whether it is standard cost sharing/preferred cost sharing/out-of-network.

I didn't spend a lot of time searching.....but the only preferred cost sharing I saw for the Humana Walmart Value plan was Walmart. I'm assuming that all the preferred cost sharing sites have the same price but haven't checked that.

I checked with GoodRx as instructed. It lists the drug in the wrong tier. The monthly premium they list for the plan is to low.

I think they may be looking at old data.

Thank you for posting. I have looked at the site, entered a plan and a specific prescription.

Do I understand correctly that when I click PRICES on the left-hand column, shown are the estimated GoodRX prices, and then if I click on MEDICARE that what it shows are the estimated co-pays using the previously entered Part D plan?
