Ever feel like your buy order - wasn't filled?

Weird . On my ETRADE account I had put in a buy order....

Stanley Black and Decker. SWK 105 shares. @$99.55.

It's unfilled.

"Low" of the day shows $99.39. I get that maybe the 99.39 could've been one sole order...but I was 16 cents over that. Not the end of world but I thought the order should have filled?

Understand that the only order that must be filled is a market order.

In a fast moving market, limit orders may not execute while you see transactions going through at prices higher and lower.

It may also come down to which exchange your broker placed your limit order on. Your broker may post your limit order on ARCX, and shares may trade down to or below your bid on XNMS but not ARCX.

There are other variables which can come in to play as well.

Bottom line, if you want the shares, pay the ask at the time you decide to place the order. If you want to wait for your price with a limit order, then it doesn't matter where the shares trade, your order may or may not get filled.

If you had submitted it to execute in pre-market, you would have gotten the shares.

Clearly SWK is in a fast-moving market this morning.

The $99.39 price was in fact just one trade where it dipped. See attached. Also notice the extremely wide bid/ask spread.
