Illinois 403(b) changes include Vanguard funds now

I’ve got a Fidelity 403(b) plan from Illinois, my former employer.

I received a notice today about upcoming changes to the fund choices. Previously there were a huge number of Fidelity funds available but over time I winnowed it down to 4 that I still hold.

It’s not a big deal to me but their transition guide includes a fund mapping chart that details how funds with existing balances will be exchanged to funds in the new lineup. When I looked at it to see how it may affect me I was surprised to see several Vanguard choices in the new Fidelity 403(b) lineup! Most on the fixed income side, but it’s an interesting twist…

[ADDED] On second look I see that the Vanguard funds now included are cash/money market and high-yield bond funds. All other fund types remain at Fidelity although may be transferred into other similar Fidelity funds.
