VNQ Vs TIREX

Title kind of says it all, I'm thinking about adding some RE fund to my AA and looking for ideas, these are at the top of the list. Would probably be in tax deffered unless there is a reason to hold in taxable.

Holdings and performance are virtually identical.

Two weird things about VNQ:
  • Top holding is another Vanguard REIT fund.
  • There was apparently a large distribution (cap gains?) on 12/24/2020 (TIREX shows no such distribution)

Vanguard has lower fees, but I thought the idea of an ETF was to avoid those cap-gains distributions?
