End of roaming charges: Commission determined to make it work

Looks like a great move. I presume travelers like me will be able to just buy a prepaid SIM card in any country and use it all over. A great convenience, for sure. In the past, I've needed a different SIM for each country I spent time in.

And maybe use it for multiple trips as long as you can keep it topped up.

I think they will do it. They set out a 10 year plan for this and since 2007 roaming charges have come down 90%. 2017 is the final year of this plan.

Last year we spent 6 months in England, with a UK SIM and number and it was nice to know that roaming charges were so low while we were in Belgium for 2 weeks driving around. However, just like my AT&T plan, our UK plan allows us to send and receive calls as if we were in the UK as long as we are in wifi.
