Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise - WOW!

I just came back from this and if you are into live music of the amplified blues variety, I highly recommend it. www.bluescruise.com is their website. There are two cruises a year. Basicallly it's nonstop music and jams almost 24/7 for a week. I went to the Caribbean - I'm going on the next one in October leaving from San Diego.

The musicians are fabulous and are name brands (so to speak). The whole week is casual - shorts in the dining room - and fun. I haven't gotten so little sleep in years - but I had a fabulous time.

I'm not trying to plug it for the company - the cruises tend to sell out completely (without my help). And people become LRBC uh... groupies? They go to them over and over so there's a group of people that you get to be friends with and see once or twice a year.

This is, alas, not cheap because of the cost of having so many bands on board. But it is an intimate concert experience and loads of fun.

I've been on one "cruise" boat, basically a ferry with a dining room and a casino that makes day runs between Ft. Lauderdale and Freeport. It was enough of a taste for me to realize I would find a typical Caribbean cruise a vacation not to remember.

But one of the music cruises...that would keep my interest.

Here's one with an outstanding lineup of singer-songwriters.

This article describes several others. An Elvis cruise, anyone?

Thanks for posting, Thinker25. I'll keep these in mind for next year.

Harry - that sounds awful!

The BluesCruise is on Holland America - very posh. It was fabulous. I was on the MS Eurodam with 2,000 insanely happy blues fans. The Cayamo cruise sounds like a great lineup for singer/songwriter - thanks for the tip.

Sounds awesome. We did a jazz cruise last year and loved it. I'll check out the blues cruise.

One of the great things aside from the music itself is that everyone has something in common (favorite artist, how did you like last night's performance etc.), so it is very easy to strike up conversations and meet people.

Just came across this one: Delbert McClinton's Sandy Beaches Cruise. He's been doing it for 15 years.

Just watching the highlight video from last year is fun. Looks like a non-stop party and great musicians.

They are planning for one for Country music as well but still haven't figured out how to get everyone on the bass boat!
