i stayed just an overnight in roanoke but got in late and left early to continue enjoying the parkway so i didn't get to see town. i did like how you see the mountains from there. that's where the parkway was sort of the least attractive of the entire trip. it's more farms and deep woods than moutainsides and fabulous views. also service roads ride right alongside the parkway, destroying the illusion a bit. but i think that's about where i got the picture of that sheepdog. so that was cool.

yer killin me here. i miss NYC pizza.
if you have't done this yet, a must see is St Patrick's Cathedral. it is a taste of old world European architecture that will take your breath away.
it is one of my earliest childhood memories.
