Hey, my wife has a 1997 Montego Blue Miata too! ( Susan Malinowski )

Best local road is Angeles Crest Highway (California 2) through the local mountains. Coast roads are good for slow cruising.

There is the most terrific road to take your sports car on in the Upper Penninsula, Mich. We drove my corvette on it and had a blast. About 20 miles of winding road with the trees right up to it. Here is a pic but it doesnt do it justice.

Western NC and Virgina

Great roads in NC. hw128 by Fontanna Dam and hw92 near deals gap (be sure to run the Dragon), Cherohala parkway between NC and Tenn. (52 miles with no commercial traffic). Just sports cars and Motorcycles.
Of course the BlueRidge Parkway and the crown Jewel of the parkway is Skyline Drive in Virginia (shanendoah Valley) Be sure to check out the bears and deer and the many caverens in the area. I actually like this section better than the PCH. It is heaven on earth.
