Spring Break

Anyone have any experience in the gulf shores area? We are contemplating a week there in April for our spring break. seven total four adults three kids oldest is 12. Beach and golf is what we are looking for. We need a pool for the kids also, oh yeah, and sun screen for me when I fall asleep reading my book in the sun........

I assume you mean Gulf Shores (and Orange Beach), Alabama. DW and I love it. We honeymooned there over 43 years ago and have visited regularly ever since. Personally, I liked it better before the beach was lined with high-rise condo's, but it is still very nice. The beach is natural and faces the Gulf of Mexico with no barrier islands offshore. I'm not a golfer. There are courses in the area, but I don't know anything about them. Gulf shores is pretty quiet, but it's an easy drive to Mobile or Pensacola.
There are no Casino's at Gulf Shores. If you are a history buff, you can tour Fort Morgan, ride the toll ferry across Mobile Bay to Dauphin Island and tour Fort Gaines.

We usually visit in the winter, which is the offseason. It's too hot for us there in the summer. I suspect the motels and condo's are already heavily booked for Spring Break. On our last few trips we have stayed in beachfront rooms at the Holiday Inn in Orange Beach or the Best Western in Gulf shores.
