I set up an account early this year the local Community college, just to see what they had to offer on an audit basis. I found a couple of things, but then Covid hit and I decided whatever it was I wanted to learn could wait until I could actually attend in person.

This morning I got an email saying they'd had a ransomware attack and are offering a one year free subscription to mytrueidentity.com, through TransUnion.

I've normally passed on these offers from other entities in the past, but I've received some pretty strange emails the past few months and am considering taking advantage. The strangest was a blackmail threat for $2K in Bitcoin, or they'd release all the porn from my computer to my Facebook account, which would cause me to lose all my friends since I'm so kinky. I reported it to my ISP and of course nothing ever happened.

So, is there any reason to not take advantage of the mytrueidentity.com offer?

I have never heard of mytrueidentity, but I use credit karma, and also have monitoring setup via capital one and amex - all of these are free, and handy to have.
