New All-In-One Desktop: Windows Or Mac ?

Question on my All-in-One new computer. Probably it's a basic question that applies to many/most computers..........Which ad blocker do you like? I started to click on one, but then a warning pops up and says something to the effect that if I add that extension to my computer that a lot of my programs/files/ may change. Is that something that I should be leery of ?? Thanks for any thoughts or experiences with Ad Blockers.

I've used uBlock Origin for years with Firefox and Chromium. It works for me.
