I watched the pilot episode. I too almost gave up part way in. The acting wasn't great. The ending was certainly unexpected. I guess the 3 ladies from the office will be the main characters.
Not sure if I'll give #2 a go. But, there is plenty of TV time these days.

I just finished the "Truth Seekers" on Amazon Prime. I enjoyed it very much and it pulled me in enough that I had to finish it in a day. Only 8 episodes at a 1/2 hour each, so not a big time commitment. Probably not a major award winning series, but good enough for us folks who also watch every Bigfoot show thinking that this will be the time they actually catch one...

On Netflix:
"White Lines" - a British woman who thought her brother ran away 20 years ago finds out that he was murdered back then, and now wants to find out what happened to him. Takes place in Ibiza, Spain. I'm 3 episodes in and enjoying it.
"Dash & Lilly" - comedy, 1/2 hour episodes - 2 young people start a friendship / romance by leaving messages in notebook at a bookshop. Sort of a Christmas story. I like all of the characters and am really enjoying it so far.

Just finished "Barbarians" on Netflix. And we think our politics are scary? Makes me grateful I was born in this century.

I'm on the fence about watching the second episode too. I'll probably give it a shot. I agree the acting was a bit spotty.

Ever been to Madison? I would live there if I could afford it. The aerial views of this community make it worth watching.

We just subscribed to BritBox. Any suggestions on series to watch? We typically like the British detective series like DCI Banks, Line of Duty, Endeavor, etc.

For some reason, over the last several months, we have been spending about 75% of our TV watching on Britbox and Acorn. The quality of the writing I suppose.
We are currently hooked on "New Tricks." (A crew of retired, old-school cops is recruited to re-investigate unsolved cases long gone cold.) There are 6 seasons so it will keep one busy for awhile.
Over the years, there are many that come to mind. At the top of the list is anxiously waiting for the new season of "Vera" (Based on the novels by Ann Cleeves, Brenda Blethyn stars as Vera, the brilliant but irascible investigator obsessed with her work and driven by her own demons. She faces each case with caustic wit and guile, investigating crimes only she can solve.)
There so many: "Death in Paradise," (Welcome to the idyllic island of Saint Marie. With its beautiful tropical charm, you might mistake it for paradise...until you see its murder rate.) "Confession" (Martin Freeman stars in BAFTA-nominated true story of Detective Superintendent Stephen Fulcher, who heroically risks his good name to track down the culprit responsible for the disappearance of 22-year-old Sian O’Callaghan.) ... this could take all day so I give up.
