Covid Timeline from NYT

That seems to be more of headlines listed as happened at the time, and doesn’t present things as we now know they unfolded such as earlier cases and earlier deaths uncovered later. I would like to see the timeline revised to show how things actually spread.

That's a good record and as Audrey said it is the headline timeline. For example, they left out:

Jan 7 - CDC stood up its Covid-19 Incident Management System and issued a travel advisory for Wuhan

Jan 21 - CDC activated its Emergency Operations Center (same day as first confirmed case in the U.S.)

EDIT - and Wikipedia has timelines too.
