Good News--No Bad Side effects to Covid Vaccine

That is interesting and now that it's been mentioned, I had vertigo for a couple of days about a week after getting the 1st Moderna shot. It was more obvious getting up in the AM and I didn't associate it with the vaccine. I haven't had it since and no effects from the 2nd shot (as of yet).

Darn, I'd heard about this and should have thought to take it! We have some because we'd been told to take it for covid when we had it the first time!

DH has developed "COVID arm" 2 days post vaccine. It's a fairly large red looking rash surrounding the injection site. Apparently this is a known side effect to Moderna, primarily.

He was sick with a fever and joint aches and slept a lot for about 36 hrs, but is fine now (except for the rash).

Sorry to hear that. My Dad and I have had covid and had our first shots. I was tired for a day and he for several. He goes today and I tomorrow for our second. I don't really care if I get sick ( obviously don't want to) but at 96 he really doesn't need that.

It varies quite a bit from person to person. I had a really sore arm peaking about 14 hours after the shot but no other symptoms with Moderna, first and second shot. Most of my golf buddies had fever and/or chills, one guy was basically incapacitated for a day but fine thereafter. OTOH, my DW had her first Moderna shot a week ago and had NO reaction whatsoever, her arm wasn’t even sore unless she pressed on the site! The good news is everyone recovered quickly, most within 24 hours, but your reaction could be all over the map.

Covid is one strange virus. People with Covid have symptoms all over the map and the reactions to the vaccine are all over the map too. A very strange virus.

It’ll be interesting to see when and the next novel virus strikes, and see what if anything we’ve learned. I’m sure the latter will be a function of time (the longer the interval, the more we’ll forget...).

Honestly I hope it’s a very, very long time. We'll probably have to deal with repercussions from COVID-19 for many more years.

Me too, but it can happen anytime. It would be nice if we at least learned that much? Credible people were warning us we’d face a pandemic and we/most countries chose to ignore the warnings for the most part, and react “sub optimally.”

If that turns out to be true, just think about the millions of folks that had covid and didn't know it (asymptomatic cases) and are getting the second shot needlessly.

We both got our second dose of Moderna two days ago. Both of us had sore arms, headaches, achy all over, fatigued and I had an elevated temperature for a while. But back to normal other than our sore arms after 48 hours. We just took a few tylenol and took it easy but it really didn't affect us much.

I think the first shot was about the same but the side affects lasted a little longer and my back problems seemed to be aggravated. Wife says this second shot was worse for her as she was very tired the day after.

Both DW and I received our second dose of Moderna yesterday. She experienced some chills and headache last night. This morning I feel like I was punched hard in the arm, but no other symptoms for me. DW hasn't been up yet this morning so not sure how she is feeling today.

And millions of people who know they had it too. My Dad and I had it and I just took him for his second shot, and I'm getting my second today. I wonder how many medical people are even keeping up with covid studies, etc. I've asked my GP., my cardiologist, all three pharmacists who gave us the shots and none had even heard about the study that covid survivors might only need one shot. The theme is get your shot and shut up.

We don’t know yet if the asymptomatic folks are getting it needlessly, and it seems like it would take a long time to figure this out. One problem with an asymptomatic infection is that you may have a very weak immune response, and potentially not enough to give you the full protection with just one dose. There is apparently a huge range of antibody amounts etc. after even a symptomatic case.

Meanwhile we have to get as many people fully vaccinated as possible.

My 3-4 days of vertigo seems to have ended. DW and MIL go for their 2nd Moderna dose tomorrow. Supposed to be a nice day. They want to walk to the mass vaccination site from MIL's apt - probably about 1.5 miles round trip. I may tag along to make sure that there are no post shot issues that prevent them from walking home.

DW and I got our second Moderna shots about 4pm yesterday.

Only side-effects so far are a little soreness in the arm at the injection point and waking up with a little cottonmouth this morning despite hydrating with Propel most of yesterday... also took a Tylenol before I went to be last night.

My DH and I got our first Moderna shots Wednesday. I had a slight headache that night; but my arm is only sore if I touch it at the injection point. My DH's arm hurts quite a bit whenever he moves it and he had trouble sleeping last night.

I felt much better after about 36 hours. Now all I have is a sore arm and slight sore muscles. Worth it!!
