Don't they fly south for the winter?

Cardinals? No, they are year-round residents here. And we get plenty of cold weather including ice and snow. Doesn't seem to bother them. They just keep coming to the feeders

Yep - we've had cardinals all winter at our feeders too. Everything else seems like they moved on. We've had some woodpeckers. Didn't see a blue jay all winter until a few days ago.

And I see Bald Eagles almost every day - but not at my feeders.

But yes - the cardinals love the snow.

I wish we had birds like that where we lived. All we get are finches and scrub jays and the occasional squirrel eating the bird food. Nice shots.

Recorded this time lapse of a passing storm last week with slow motion blending. The temperature dropped into the 30's at night and in the 50's during the day. The camera is a Lumix G9 with a Sigma 18-35mm F/1.8 wide angle zoom lens.

^ Wow. That slow motion blending is incredible!

Saw 2 pair of these in the pond behind the house yesterday morning. They hung around all day. Not a common sight, notice the long, thick legs.

Great pictures, Ronstar!

I see the Turkey Vultures have returned here, a few weeks ago now. That Paint Turtle is on my list to catch one, for my grand daughter to keep in back yard for a few days, then will release it.
The Muskrat's are always an interesting animal to watch. Thanks

Thanks Street. Yep the turkey vultures have come out here recently too. I didnít see any during the winter. One circled barely overhead today. Thought it was ready to attack.

Good luck on catching that turtle!

My wife said one of her plants flowered, Son-In-Law gave it to here.
If you know what it is, please tell me.

I think that’s an Iris. Show more of the leaf/plant and it will help to identify.

MissMolly 04-14-2021 05:30 PM

Looks like a Japanese Water Iris. Don't know the exact cultivar.

My first impulse was Iris, but then I had second thoughts. Another picture will have to wait until tomorrow, it dark out now.

Picture of the whole plant.

I still think it’s an iris, but I can’t match the flower to anything online.
