First Fiscal Year of ER - My Actual Spending & Lessions - What are yours?

I just computed my actual spending for 2007 - my first full fiscal year of ER. I don't track them by individual line items.
I was budgeting $40,000 to spend this year. Aproximatly - $20K for basic living and $20K for travel etc.
$33,725 - Total Spent
$-3,000 - Stuff for a new house - other furniture costs in interest free loan
$-6,000 - Taxes from partial working in 2006
$-20,000 - Apx general living expenses at home
$ 4,725 - Apx total spent on travel.

My travel this year was limited by buying a new house; parent moved to assisted living.

Lessons:
1. Major Lesson - plan ahead my annual travel wants - time goes quickly
2. It is difficult to spend all I have budgeted for travel. It is really more than $20K - When I'm traveling I'm not spending my "Basic Living costs" (costs if I were to stay at home).

I hope this helps others who focus on the money part of the equation.

So, today I'm going to plan the following:
1. Trip to Egypt - Winter
2. RV trip around the USA - 5 months - spring Summer
3. Trip to Italy & Spain - Fall
