Per litre, I presume. That's about the same as low-tax Luxembourg and 25%-30% less than France, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Netherlands. Enjoy your low-priced-by-European-standards gas. (On the other hand, Spain has the most expensive motorway tolls.)

The last time gasoline prices were increased in Venezuela was 1989. This resulted in sudden, massive, violent country-wide riots quelled by marshal law. This is what led to the first attempted military takeover by Chavez in 1992 and subsequent election to the presidency in 1998. The guy is not dumb and gasoline prices are not likely to go up anytime soon – at least for 87 octane gas. Gasoline is so cheap not by design but from fear.

I recall the gas pumps in Venezuela were kind of neat in that you could rotate a dial to decide your octane blend you want to pump. Sure made the "moostang" fast.

Here where I live in Brazil it's $6,34 per gallon. And that's what we call "common gasoline", with 25% ethanol. The high-octane (Podium) costs $8,61 per gallon.

Oh, and here a Corolla costs up to $50.500,00 and is considered a top luxury car. A Camry costs $74.500,00.
