Hi all of you and I am glad to join your forum and hope to gain from the knowledge of many and some reassurance in these crazy days. It seems like any more a person doesn't know from week to week or day to day what the market might do next. It has some wilds swings.

A little about me. I am 63 and married to wife that is 62 living in MN. We are both planning to retire within an year and just hoping we have planned well enough. I have worked many years in utility company and will have a pension and savings in 401K & Roth. My wife will have a small pension and small some 457 & Roth savings.

Our main liability is mortgage of $124K at 4.5%.

I have ran through the numbers a number of times with different programs to project if we can retire. All indicate we should be OK, but not with a lot of excess. Medical Ins. will be one of our bigger expenses until we reach 65.

I am currently in process of moving money to a new low cost brokeage. This is to get investments centralized, away from some higher cost advisors. Plan is to get invested in about 5 core funds (mainly vanguard) and get my asset allocation set. Some questions yet on how often to rebalance and methodology for pulling out income.

Glad to be here and will start looking over some of the past threads.

Welcome, Bob.

Welcome Bob. For some reason that I can't totally explain, the daily gyrations of the market doesn't bother me much. I guess that I have been investing for so long that I have sort of got used to it. Just stop looking!
