Confused about dryer sheets

Hello. I just found this forum while researching early retirement and it is very useful. I'm nearing retirement but as with everyone, money will be the determining factor. I've started my 35th year with the company I began with way back in 1977. I've been saving in my 401k since then but the results aren't as promising as I once thought. Our company's stock plummeted a dozen years ago and my retirement fund hasn't recovered to pre crash levels still. My wife works at a hospital without a pension plan so her contribution will be minimal. I'm hoping to retire in a couple of years but there are so many variables that it may be more like five or six years. I'm hoping to learn some tips here that will help me plan better and be bettered prepared for that day. Thanks.
