The guy who co-invented the bar code reader died at 91 years old.

We used to do our grocery shopping at the supermarket that was the first one to use bar codes. It was a Kroger store in the Kenwood section of Cincinnati, and used circular (bullseye) bar codes. Long before we moved there, but the store had a nice little display that told about it.
