(This is prompted by a comment on another thread, but since it's totally OT for both that thread and the FIRE and Money forum, I decided to start a new thread rather than hijacking that one.)
I have sometimes thought of planting bamboo in my garden for edible shoots and other uses. What species do you find suitable for edible sprouts?
I sure hope that is a "clumping" species of bamboo and not one of the "running" varieties, or you have got your work cut out for you keeping it in bounds!Hey - NW-Bound. Thanks for asking, but they're doing WAAAAAAY too well. Really taking over the place, even though I eat pretty much nothing but bamboo shoot between May 1 and June 10 every year! You can see just some of the cheapskate's bamboo thicket in this picture, growing next to my beloved "Gomer (the compost) Pile."
