Hello, I've been reading this forum for a few weeks and found it very helpful. Here's my choice: 2014, 2015 or 2016? I am a federal employee with a defined benefit plan (CSRS) and will have 38 years Sept. 2013. My pension will cover my expenses.(I'm 62)
2014 my net pension will be ~$5900
2015 it would be $209 more a month
2016 it would be $441 more a month
I have no spouse, children or debt other than my mortgage. I have a 2700sf house which I shared with my mother until her death 2 years ago. I want to downsize and plan to declutter and get my house ready for sale during the 1st year of retirement. I want to move to New Mexico....but that's another thread topic.
My TSP (401k) is currently has $197,350 and I plan on taking making a one time withdrawal of ~$60,000 when I retire. The rest will remain in the TSP and I won't need it for living expenses.
I believe my jitters are a normal part of the retirement process.
Comments/feedback welcomed, thank you.
PS: I joined the forum last summer and just found my way back!
