I am hoping someone knows something about this because I don't have a clue.

I have a personal blog that I write. It has no advertising of any kind on it. It is purely personal.

Over half of my readers access my blog by mobile either on phone or tablet. A couple of times when I have gone to my blog myself just to look up something on my phone, on Safari, I noticed an add sort of over layed on the bottom of the screen. It wasn't written as part of my web page itself. It seemed to be something sort of on top of the screen. There was a small x on the right where I could close it. Today, the one that is there is for Big Fish Casino.

I recently did a post to my blog. I have a FB page associated with my blog as well. A couple of people said they couldn't read the post. One person said they tried 3 times and it was interrupted by spam. She said she tried going there through the link on the FB page and going through Safari. She was using an iPad.

Another one said that on her phone a pop up opens that says something about being randomly selected to win an iPhone X.

Another person said she got the same pop up but turned it off and could go back and read the post.

Oh, my blog is a self hosted blog on Wordpress using a Genesis child theme. I had a professional set up my blog originally but she is no longer doing that kind of work so I don't have anyone to really ask these questions.

Anyway things I am trying to figure out:

1. Is this a problem these users are having that has something to do with what is on their phone or is there something wrong with my blog that is causing this? I know I don't have any ads or pop ups on my blog though.

2. Assuming it is a problem on their phone...I am seeing that ad when I go to my blog. So what can I do to get rid of it.

Basically trying to figure out if I need to hire someone to try to look at the code on my blog to see if someone hacked into my blog and put something in my code or is this just a problem that people have gotten and they happen to be having it when they go to my blog?

Whoever is hosting your blog is probably selling ads to pay for the space and services you are using.

Oh, wow. I never thought of that. Hmm. If so, it is apparently only on the mobile platform. And, I don't think was there originally. I need to look into this. I may need to change hosting companies. I've been using the current one for 4 years but I do it monthly and can change at any time. About 70% of my traffic is mobile or tablet and this is definitely having a negative impact on people coming there. I don't so much mind the little ad at the bottom but the one that kept people from getting there at all is an issue.
