I contribute a large percentage in the beginning of each year for 401K and HSA. If I am separated in April, 2018 for example, I will have contributed 401K with the full $24500 and the full $4450 for HSA.

Is this actually permitted for HSA, if I am not in an HSA plan for the rest of the year?

I believe you are OK for the 401(k) as long as you have earned $24,500, but unless you are in a HSA qualified plan for the whole year, you have to prorate the contribution. I went on Medicare this year and that is how I understand my contribution to be limited.

You did not indicate if you were single or 55+ and thus eligible for catch up provisions. But travelover is correct that you need to prorate contributions and catch up for the number of months covered by an HSA plan.
