Wellness spa recommendations

DH wants to go to a wellness spa in March 2019. Criteria are warm climate, decent food, lots of variety of classes - yoga, meditation, exercise, nutrition, etc. Doesn’t have to be driving distance from LA but that would make it easier. We will likely stay for 1-2 weeks. Goals are relaxation and working on health and fitness. We are ok if we can’t have alcohol while there, although we’d also be happy if wine is offered.

Has anyone done this? Recommendations?

I live in Tucson - lots of wellness spas here and definitely drivable from CA. Starr Pass, Canyon Ranch, La Ventana are some that come to mind....

We have done it in Roscoff France (Thalassotherapy), Italy (Lake Garda), and Germany (Baden-Baden). Never in California. The food and wine at Roscoff France was sensational and so was Italy. All locations were pretty stunning. My sister-in-law organizes these family bonding spa retreats every few years. I just go with the flow.

Thanks. I checked out Canyon Ranch as I’ve heard of them, and was surprised by the huge cost. I think it was $15K/week for the two of us, and we’re thinking of staying 2 weeks. I knew this wouldn’t be an inexpensive vacation, but $30K seems a bit much. I’ll check out the other options you suggested.

Thanks, looks nice. I will ask them about longer programs. The website seems focused on four-day retreats.

Sounds nice but if we fly all the way to Europe, we’d want to go sightseeing. We’d prefer a domestic destination, preferably in or near So CA, so we won’t feel like we’re missing out on enjoying the local area while we focus on relaxing and improving our nutrition and exercise program.

We went to one a while back in Tucson Arizona. it was paid for by my former employer. They have all inclusive packages. It was good but not at the same level as the one's in Europe.

Yes the Canyon Ranch is good but expensive. My former employer paid for it as a reward and recognition award.

I love Rancho la Puerta in Tecate. Its an easy drive with lots of land and nice hikes.

Fairmont Princess Spa in Scottsdale, Az. DW loves the place. We haven't stayed there - she likes the spa. We haven't had their food. There are tons of eating places nearby and a lot of things to do. Tough to beat the weather in March.

I love Rancho la Puerta in Tecate. Its an easy drive with lots of land and nice hikes.

Rancho La Puerta is a beautiful place, fabulous food, one of the very first "wellness spas" - just a short distance across the border (& they can pick you up at the San Diego airport if you fly in). All the activity & classes you could want - & also great if you just want to sit by the pool or hike on your own. Not as pricey as Canyon Ranch, but first class in every way.

I've been there twice in the past 2 years & look forward to returning soon.

Some cruise ships now offer spa based trips, to rooms are different, you eat in a separate dining room with a healthier spa menu and you have acces to all the treatments, classes and what not. Particularly nice son a repositiocruise I would assume where you may have 5 or 6 seas days all in a row.

Great way to de stress and relax...
