This article brought a smile to my face.

Last week, Klongsanun was participating in a local marathon when something caught her eye. There, about 7 miles into the 26-mile run, she spotted a tiny puppy on the roadside with no owner or mother in sight.


Rather than continue on her way and leave the little dog to face the world alone, Klongsanun decided to briefly put the race on hold. She stopped — and scooped the helpless puppy into her arms.
But then she did so much more.

Watching the video, that's the most still, non-squirming puppy I've ever seen .

Nice video but in some South Asian countries that could be used as a bar-b-que mid time snack in some rural areas. On another note, had grilled horsemeat in Sicily which was actually quite tasty.

I understand that horses and donkeys are eaten in Europe, but they are not raised as food. When the animals get old, they are put down, and instead of letting the carcasses go to waste, well, they are put to better use.

Sounds OK to me. I have not been to Sicily, but knew that they have donkey stew in Northern Italy. When I was there, did not have time to inquire about for a restaurant serving this.

I wonder along with Jerry1 about that. I frequently see people posting that they picked up this poor skinny dog out in the country somewhere that they never go. I can just see the poor kids out searching for their dog. When we were kids dogs roamed around anywhere they wanted to. No leash laws back then and many "country" areas don't have leash laws either.

In my younger days traveling in South America namely Bolivia, there were loose dogs everywhere in the city. They usually become a Velcro dog with you if you were eating something walking in the city. One amazing thing I saw is when the traffic cop was directing people to walk through a busy intersection and with his whistle the people would stop and go across the intersection by his command. And the loose dogs would do they same.

There's many older free horses available. They're generally in poor shape and in need of euthanasia. It's really very sad. Once again the pendulum swung way too far.
