Where to put cash?
While working I have always been able to stash my emergency living expense cash (plus other cash) in a special account that paid a pretty decent rate (currently 4%) with no withdrawal restrictions....

I just looked at the real rate of my Vanguard inflation fund, and it is only 1.24%.

Actually I was wrong about the average maturity-- it is 7 to 20 years. Is that too long in this rising interest rate environment, or does it matter with TIPS?
Another thing that worries me about...

Has anyone ER'd with kids? I have two boys, 5 and 7, and I'd like to quit so I can spend more time with them and watch them grow up. I feel like I've missed almost all of the kid experience so far...
