Re: Next poll...honing in on mortgages

Some of us do mind, and if you really feel this way, why do you keep putting it on here? Post count? I am sure you recall
my calling
you an
ignorant p***k. I was too kind. Seriously.

Re: My introduction

As a fallen Lutheran/Agnostic, I still find it comforting with
the seemingly large % of Texans who attend church regularly.
Very supportive of Christianity even though I have my doubts.
Anyway, no...

Go f**k yourself, and kindly note the lack of a smiley face.

Oddly, many of us have the same reaction to your posts vis-a-vis
others posting here.

Re: I Smell Cheap(er) Gas

Coming home through Oklahoma and Missouri, I paid 1.94 - 1.95
routinely. Back home we are still stuck around 2.19.

Re: Next poll...honing in on mortgages

I understand the appeal of being without a mortgage. However, in my
"big spender" days, no amount of debt fazed me. I instinctively
believed that I should borrow all of the money I could find...

Re: The good old USA and medical costs

I've had some MRIs. I only use the "open" type as I am
slightly claustrophobic. Anyway, the last time I could have gotten
in at several locations within 24 hours. In fact, I had more trouble...

Re: what % of salary do you live on

I have often posted that we live on about 25% of my pre-ER
gross income, or 25K per year (2 people, 4 dogs). OTOH, I just did our
tax returns and the total gross was around 30K, all of which we...

Re: Umbrella insurance levels while ER ?

We don't have one, although I've looked into it as I can see some
gaps in our coverage. Re. your statement that "companies will only
write umbrella policies if they have both your home/auto, etc"...

Re: Reason for holding a mortgage...or not

We have no mortgage on our house in Illinois, nor on the Texas condo. The Number One reason, honestly, is to protect me from myself. I see "deals" everywhere and many many ways to
"invest" the...

Re: what % of salary do you live on

Just a quickie. I am 61 and dealing with various health "issues".
It's no fun. DW says, "You seem to be able to do what you want to do."
Only partly true. I tell her."What is the alternative? Sit...

Re: Cheney Shoots, Scores

I think I saw that one. They were interviewing a doctor who claimed
to have treated many gunshot wounds. He may have known
medicine, but he surely didn't know ammo. Makes you wonder.

Re: What's Your Risk of Death in the Next 4 Years?

I have noticed this. I wonder how it seems to them, like
do married men live longer than single men, or does it just seem that way?

Thanks. I can not drink red wine for medical reasons. I have consumed my share over the years and don't really miss it much.

Re: Cheney Shoots, Scores

I've been offline for a while. Figured this incident would yield lots of
commentary. An observation........the news media and the public at large is appalling ignorant about shooting, guns, hunting,...

Well, you're not necessarily wrong (for once). Just 2 different ways of looking at the same horse.

Re: Doom and Gloom

Not directed at anyone in particular, but it's very poor form to say you are leaving and then hang around. This applies

Re: Corporate Bonds on the Secondary Market

Well, I am not really a 100% bond investor, but I guess we
were coming at it from a different angle. As you point out,
if you hold to maturity, then you get all your money back and the coupon rate...
