Missed it this week...busy.........

I never watch it live. That's what a DVR is for. Sometimes i'm only an hour behind, sometimes i'm a full day behind but I always get to it eventually.

Always embarrased to admit I watch this show. But I'll come out of the closet.

I agree this year the contestants are very weak overall. Crystal and Siobhan are the only consistently good ones. The rest are all very weak. Love Simon. Love Ellen. Randy gets a little tired.

What the heck was Miley Cyrus doing as a 'mentor'. She is 17 for goodness sake. Her advice consisted of helpful comments like 'you were awesome', and the always helpful 'wow, that was great'. Good grief. New rule for congress to take up once it's finished ruining the rest of our lives. Noone allwoed to be a mentor until at least 21 years of age. You have to be drinking age before ever being called a mentor in anything.

DW bought the new Danny Gokey CD. After listening to it, I realized who really should have won last year. No doubt in my mind that Danny will sell about 20X more CDs than Adam Lambert, Kris Allen, and Allison Iraheta combined........

I tried watching for about 15 minutes but Miley as mentor was too awful. I like the must be 21 and over to be an AI mentor.

I DVR American Idol too and fast forward through everything but the singing. And I FF through some of that too. I've given up watching the results show and look online after the east coast program airs.

Speaking about previous contestants, I liked Adam Lambert while on AI but not really when he's doing his own stuff. Maybe it's the flamboyant part of him that turns me off. He kept a lower profile while on TV, but maybe the show required that.

I hope Crystal wins, however I wonder if that lifestyle of AI winner is really suited to her. I know she needs the money, but I think she might end up unhappy in that role. Guess we shall see.

I agree. I think she has better vocals than most of the other contestants but i've been tired of the screaming since the second time she did it several weeks ago. With everyone doing well this week I was glad it was her going home.

After the performance on Tuesday, I felt Sibobhan would go since her performance was terrible, with or without the screaming at the end (which was getting annoying). Nothing new or exciting with her last several performances really.

I want Mike to go next (his singing does nothing for me).

I think Lee is over rated. They've been trying to make him out to be the next Daughtry since before the top 12 even started. He's no where close to being close to as good as Daughtry and he never will be. He barely even qualifies as a "rocker". His vocals are mediocre at best and he has no stage presence. Casey should even have a better career than Lee after Idol.

Krystal has talent, I am convinced of that- whether she wins or loses, I will probably buy her album.

There was a girl (17 yo) eliminated a few weeks ago and I thought she did some songs I would buy.

I think Lee is over rated. They've been trying to make him out to be the next Daughtry since before the top 12 even started.

I think Kasey and Mike are overrated too. I think the 17 yo boy left is also overrated. That is not music I would buy.

The one which did straight up during hollywood week has talent- he did 2-3 songs I would buy... and that to me is important.

Few albums have 12 songs I like... Aerosmith Pump, Motley Crue Dr Feelgood, Def Leppard Hysteria and Pyromania all fall into that category (have 12 songs I like). Shania Twain, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill have come close too.

So if I find 3-4 songs I like, I generally buy the album (I don't own an ipod) and I generally play on the PC and listen to Idol only (don't watch it), and the only one I am buying right now is Krystal.

I agree with you FD. Last year we had Kris, Adam, Danny and Allison in the top 4. All interesting personalities and good singers yet so different. This year has been kind of a snooze fest.

I do like Crystal but she frankly wasn't great last week with Shania Twain's song book. She did great with "Me and My Bobby McGee" and "Give Me One Reason" so I'm still holding out hope.

I'm hoping Sinatra week (next week's theme) and Harry Connick, Jr. as a mentor will be entertaining. I am a big Sinatra fan and will be very unhappy if they don't do him justice. One of the greatest singers EVER.

I suppose, I picture him more of a Nickelback or Lifehouse lead singer type. Rod Stewart type of voice.

Hey Moe, I think you mean Casey James. "Casey Jones" was the title of a Greatful Dead song that was more awesome than anything we've seen on Idol this year so far. We'll never hear it on Idol though. The lyric "driving that train, high on cocaine" is a sure deal breaker. O0

You are right on both aspects . It is Casey James and he is smoking hot ! If only I was forty years younger and fifteen pounds thinner I'd be a Casey James groupie !

Considering how close FD and I have been on Idol over the years, it doesn't sound like I'm missing anything by not watching.

Krystal (Crystal?) has a sound I have not heard in a long time- if ever.

I likened it to Trick Pony when I described it to my wife, but even that is a difficult comparison. If she is not in the finals, don't bother watching. I believe she is a rare talent.

Well, there's Bonnie Raitt and Janice Joplin, she sounds like either one, depending on the song..........

Ya she has a unique sound, and some real talent. I just didn't enjoy her voice, in the same way that people didn't like Bob Dylan's or Johnny Cash's voice even though millions of others did.
