What is your pet peeve of the day? -- 2021

Cashier math - the 9.99 item was on sale, to be 50% off. Working diligently on her calculator, the dear lady came up with $ 5.29. Plus tax. I called to her attention that it should be $ 5.00. She: Did I want her to call her manager? Me: No, not worth the fuss for the 29 cents, but please figure...

    RSV vaccine side effects?

RSV is a particular concern for both the over-65 crowd and even more so especially for infants. I got my RSV shot because there is a beautiful new baby in our family and I wanted to see him!

Harllee, that sounds like a good fee structure for the residents!

    Moved into CCRC today

At my parents’ CCRC, if one person stayed in independent living but the other moved to assisted living, the second person charge on the independent living apartment went away, but now there was also a full charge for the person in Independent living, since they would be in different apartments...

Berkshire Hathaway annual meeting in Omaha

Anyone who has previously attended the annual shareholders’ meeting of Berkshire Hathaway in Omaha in recent years: any advice for a first time attendee? Seems like there will only be a small number of years left with Buffett and Munger attending, so I thought I’d make the pilgrimage in May 2024.

Choosing a new doctor - MD, DO, PA, FNP?

I’ve had good and bad MD’s, good and bad DO’s (mostly good), good and bad NP’s and PA’s. They are all credible professionals. Patient experience varies more depending on the individual provider than title, in my experience.

    Do you have family reunions?

Nope. But my whole family would fit in a phone booth. If you could find a phone booth.

What got you excited about retirement saving?

I married young, divorced in my late 30’s. No kiddos. Lucky to have a job I truly enjoyed, with good pay and benefits. After the divorce, I took stock of my finances and my single reality and realized my financial security was all on me, and I needed to be sure I could support myself from my own...

Super confused... feeling DEVASTATED & hopeless... need advice on my plan?

Many on this forum have an aversion to annuities. Annuities are expensive and most of the time an investor is likely to do much better with other financial vehicles. But for some people, whose biggest risk is that they will not hold onto their money and invest and spend it wisely for whatever...

Super confused... feeling DEVASTATED & hopeless... need advice on my plan?

This seems to be adding stress. Whatever your online business is, can you also work a regular full or part-time job and do your current business as a side gig? You seem to have plenty of energy. I’m not suggesting you give up your business completely but if the income from it is only random at...

What supplements do you take? Benefits?

Psyllium fiber (regularity/cholesterol); krill oil (cholesterol); multi vitamin for women over 50; cal/mag/D; a stool softener; lysine (if I don’t, I get cold sores). Most were doctor recommended. Recently added at the rec of my doc: blend of lemon verbena/hibiscus flower/green coffee bean...

    Touch Typing?

Took typing during summer school in junior high. My older brother and I took it together. I’m not super fast but it has been useful. “The quick red fox …”
