    TSP Estimation

I know that but I was just trying to extreme ballparks. Things were a little slow and I was just screwing around. Not looking to make investment decisions. Just trying the figure out even for two years from now how to incorporate contributions in with expected portfolio growth.

    TSP Estimation

I am trying to create a spreadsheet to examine my thrift savings plan trajectory for retirement (12/31/2044) planning. I can estimate my salary growth and contributions as a percentage of my income. How would I accommodate contributions plus yearly growth to update an estimated account balance...

    Govt shut down

As a federal employee one rub that it's me is that I am paid using what is called "3 year money" meaning you get it in chunks and can dispurse it over a three year period. During the last shutdown and presumably this one, I will be unaffected and report to work as usual and be paid as such in...

    DD and Wedding

We paid a bunch ourselves and made some concessions (we did a cocktail party reception to save on a sit down dinner, we also didn't have bridal/groom parties). DWs parents gave us a good chunk of money and we used as little as possible on the wedding and used more toward paying down debt and a...

Do you have "luxuries" you treat yourself to?

I buy high quality (generally British) shaving cream/soap. Feel a ton better using that over the grocery store brand with my de razor.

    2016 YTD investment performance thread

I just have it spread across numerous TSP funds including large cap, small cap, international, a 2040 target fund, a 2050 target fund, and a very small portion in a bond fund.

What do you do for a living?

I am a Systems Engineer with the US Dept of the Army. I also co-own an SAT/ACT test prep business with my wife. She is a high school history teacher. This keeps incredibly busy. Sent from my SM-N910V using Early Retirement Forum mobile app

    Anyone got any travel planned?

Just booked a 7 night balcony room cruise from NYC to Bermuda in August. Not having to pay for a flight let us splurge a little more. My wife and I definitely splurge on vacations more than a lbym adherent would but we work two jobs during the school year (I have a year round job) and by the...

    TSP Asset Allocation

Is there a good book somewhere that discusses all these in's and out's. I know the tsp homepage has a lot of information but I get almost information overload. Sent from my SM-N910V using Early Retirement Forum mobile app

    Betterment

I was watching TV and a commercial for a service called betterment came on. The website is interesting. They are a model/rules based investment service that auto adjusts the allocation for you. Their big thing is low cost etfs and tax loss harvesting. Has anyone used them? Seems really good if...

Hi - I am financially ready but can't pull the trigger

I hope to moving into Wall Street soon and your story is what I hope to achieve for me and my family. Take the plunge, you have worked hard to build that nest egg. As mentioned earlier you probably have the skills to build your retirement accounts. Sent from my SM-N910V using Early...

    TSP Asset Allocation

I am married. My wife is a teacher with investments of her own and happens to be Series 7/9/10 registered when she was a broker. Am I allowed to buy into TSP if I leave the Government or only move what is in there? Sent from my SM-N910V using Early Retirement Forum mobile app
