What would you do with this $$?

Thanks for the input. I am 29 and DH is 30. ARM could adjust to 5.375 in 6.5 years but I'm not concerned about the increase at this time. I will re-focus the funds back to Vanguard instead of the mortgage...it just sounded like a great idea there for a minute getting that paid off...

What would you do with this $$?

Hi, So we are beginning the process to adopt a newborn. All fees for the adoption are set aside and we have begun a 529 at Vanguard in our name until he/she arrives. After reading bogleheads a bit, we are leaning toward lump sum 529 investing to set it and forget it to focus on other things...

What fafsa loopholes did you find with ER?

Hi, So I'm getting ahead of myself a little, but that is my M.O. We plan to adopt in the next few years and because we both had college paid for, we would like to be able to do the same for our kids. I am thinking of setting aside a lump sum instead of putting money aside monthly so that it...

What to do with previous pension

Update So I received my pension paperwork today for my spouse to notarize with a laundry list of instructions to roll it over. OH MY. BUT, there was an itemized list of withdrawal options that somewhat blew me away and got me thinking and then just confused. Pension balance is $17,383.55 I...

What to do with previous pension

Hi, I left a megacorp earlier this year for a commission only job at a local company. Megacorp had a pension for a short time before it was discontinued. Pension is held with fidelity but with zero investment choices, unlike my 401k. I finally got around to rolling my 401 to Vanguard last...

Help setting up a dividend paying portfolio

Thanks everyone. I am not looking to put my entire portfolio into dividend paying stocks but I enjoy being able to bounce ideas off the group and at least walk away with some talking points.

Help setting up a dividend paying portfolio

Thanks for the input. I have always thought that growth was the way to go and still believe that. But seeing people closer to my age group focusing on dividends had be questioning for a minute. I will continue on my normal path. :-)

Help setting up a dividend paying portfolio

Hi, I have been seeing a lot more about dividend paying portfolios lately for some reason. DH and I are 28/27 respectively and have about $65,000 cash that I would like to begin investing. I have previously posted our financials. Improvements in economy and job security have made investing...

    Vanguard fund suggestions

Thanks all. I am going to add the books to my kindle app and check out Wellsley. Thanks for the encouragement, I had wanted to be pedal to the metal as I roll over and reallocate but started to have doubts. Doubts be gone. :)

    Vanguard fund suggestions

Hi, This is my first post as I have lurked for some time. DH and I have been diligently saving and planning to retire by 50 but reading these forums and running i-orp and FIRE calc and every time value of money calculator under the sun has me pushing for FI by 40 with RE at my leisure. I...
